Informa’s decision to forge ahead with IWCE 2021 in Las Vegas, Sept 27-30, was a bold and important step in restarting the cadence of national events where the wireless industry can gather, meet, learn, and do business. When the car has been in the garage for eighteen months, the collective engine is going to sputter a little when you fire it up. The gross attendance numbers were down, but the quality was high, and good business was done. Informa delivered on their part, and we are grateful.

I am sure many of you have heard the phrase “reading between the lines” but have you ever thought that much about its real meaning. Many sources explain that it is to look for or discover a meaning that is hidden or implied rather than explicitly stated. I believe that holds true in the case of determining if in-building coverage is required for the entire building or potentially for a limited area.

For many of us when it comes to receiving information or news about a particular issue, its common to hear someone say something related to the phrase first used by King James I of England in 1616 who said “No news is better than evil news” or as later modified “No news is good news”. But that is not always the case. I am pleased to report some great news and that is the fact that the 2022 edition of NFPA 1225 Standard for Emergency Services Communications has been completed and officially issued. So, what does that mean for the Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement System (ERCES) stakeholder community?
