Government Affairs Work Group April 2022 Update

The Safer Buildings Coalition Government Affairs Work Group met to discuss several updates. Ryan Woodward of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) provided updates on federal issues we are tracking including:
The National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) is making an update of the AFST (Assessment of Future Spectrum and Technology) project. SBC is proposing to add in-building topics. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency’s SAFECOM is updating their plan. SBC is proposing to add in-building topics. Regarding legislation in Florida, SB1190, which seeks to exempt apartment buildings that are 75 feet or less in height from complying with the minimum emergency responder radio strength requirements in 633.202(18) of the Florida Statute, is on Governor DeSantis’s desk.
