The group's April meeting covered:

Continue Monitoring State and Local markets for introduction of any bills of interest to SBC

-Monitoring of Federal Government- FCC- on 4.9 spectrum- no new updates

-June’s 2nd annual Tech and Policy Summit – topics for agenda, key stakeholders to invite, how to get word out further to drive the right attendance.

-Formed a new sub-committee to research Alyssa’s Law and all the State statues either passed or proposed and SBC can contribute to the goals. https://makeourschoolssafe.org/alyssas-law/

Safer Buildings Coalition and many of our members are heading to Orlando for IWCE next week. This we are proud to offer a full day's 4-piece educational program which will examine the current state of in-building wireless coverage, including a special interactive noon workshop focused on Florida: "Florida In-Building Public Safety Communications: Improve What Works, Fix What Doesn't."

Are you planning to attending, exhibit at, even sponsor a State or National Fire Marshal event in the new year? If so, we invite you to join our special ERCES Handbook Sponsorship Program, which allows SBC members to purchase one or more boxes of books (eight books per box) at a deep discount, affix their own labels and hand out the book to local AHJs and Radio System Staff. This is a great way to spread the enforcement message, educate jurisdiction staff, and build a relationship based on gratitude and value with book recipients.

Codes and Standards Work Group March 2024

The Codes and Standards Working Group has been busy preparing for the upcoming ICC hearings. SBC has a couple proposals for the fire code designed to continue to point users to NFPA 1225. The fire code hearings will take place the week of April 7th in Orlando.
