CBRE and the Safer Buildings Coalition are committed to advancing in-building public safety technologies that ensure the safest and most effective Commercial Real Estate environments.

CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, announces that it will join the Safer Buildings Coalition toparticipate in the coalition’s mission to assure quality, ubiquitous in-building public safety technologies that are essential to protecting life and property.

A non-profit organization established in 2012, the Safer Buildings Coalition provides advocacy and education related to in-building public safety communications. Its stakeholders include property developers and owners, fire and building code officials, wireless infrastructure equipment and services providers, and wireless service providers such as carriers and third party operators.

“In-situ building wireless coverage, capability  and capacity are critical to the safety of first responders and the building occupants they protect,”  said David Burnes, Managing Director for CBRE. “The high technology environment with today’s properties, along with the internet of things (IOT) backbone so many building systems operate on, provide a platform for how we build safety into daily operations.  We chose to collaborate with Safer Buildings Coalition to educate upon this concept and expand this message, to thereby ensure that the voices of our clients, partners and vendors are heard at the national, state and local levels for these important issues.”

“Safer Buildings Coalition is pleased to have CBRE join the ranks of SBC’s membership,” said John Foley, Vice President of the Safer Buildings Coalition. “CBRE’s vast experience and diverse portfolio will be invaluable in guiding and propelling our mission.”

CBRE and  the Safer Buildings Coalition will collaborate on content and programs that provide public safety technology resources and education for the benefit of its individual facilities and North American portfolios, and for the Commercial Real Estate industry at large.
