Candidate Statement:
Thank you for your consideration of my application for the SBC Board of Directors. It has been an honor to serve on the SBC Board for the last two years. I have been impressed with the vision, passion and drive of the organization and its leaders to make a difference. I believe SBC will continue to lead the way addressing these critical in-door coverage gaps with consistent cost-effective technology solutions for first responders and the occupants to provide a safer environment for everyone.

I have spent my entire career in support of Public Safety, Enterprise wireless communications. I have been providing communications solutions for over 30 years as an engineer, a project manager, an integrator, and in various leadership roles.

I have a passion to advance reliable communications and its ability to save lives. Dependable in-building communications are needed and must be addressed. This gap creates an unacceptable risk for the responders and the those they are serving. As the leader of MCA’s DAS business, I see daily the need for a more consistent and thorough adoption of the fire codes and proper usage of in-building technologies. SBC has been a great partner for MCA to support the education of AHJ’s, building owners, and radio system owners.

I fully support the mission of SBC and feel that I can help further its goals with continued active participation and service in the organization. I believe I can bring value to the SBC Board based on my prior SBC service, from my current role as an ERCES business leader, and my career in the wireless market. Bio:
John is an experienced leader in communications systems with over 30 years of RF design, deployment, funding, and policy experience. John has worked directly with hundreds of public safety agencies in developing communications solutions specifically designed to enhance the safety of their responders and those they serve.

Today John leads the In-building Wireless Solutions business unit for Mobile Communications America (MCA). MCA is a wireless integrator which provides custom-designed DAS solutions from over 100 offices across 17 states. MCA serves tens of thousands of public safety agencies and building owners across all vertical markets. As an ERCES business leader today, John understands the challenges and needs for more consistent code enforcement and the proper usage of technology to deliver safety without creating interference.

John served as the SBC At Large VP over the last two years and has also served both the TechAmerica State and Local and Federal Board of Directors and the Enterprise Wireless Association Board of Directors.

John’s MCA organization has designed, sold, deployed, and tested thousands of ERCES systems. John has a passion for providing reliable communications—both public safety and cellular—to enable safe indoor environments.
