Justin Daniels & Mark Reynolds to headline Univ. of New Mexico event on Aug. 12th

On August 12th, the University of Mexico will be hosting a special pilot version of our regular Safer Buildings Coalition’s In-Building Public Safety Seminar Series.

This event will feature a keynote by Justin Daniels, President of the Center for Campus Fire Safety, which is an SBC member and one of our key thought partners. Justin is also Fire Marshall at the University of Oklahoma. Mark Reynolds, Associate Director Core IT Voice Services at the University of New Mexico, will also present at this event.

Broward County BDA Committee Announces Next Meeting

The Broward County BDA Committee, under the Broward County Board of Rules & Appeals, has scheduled its next meeting for Monday, July 29th at 1:30pm EDT.

In recent conversations with Safer Buildings Coalition members, the topic of grid testing, and more specifically the interpretation of what size the grid should be, has come up. So, this month I will try to shed some light on this important issue as it relates to public safety in-building communications systems. 

The answers can be found in the 2019 Edition of NFPA 1221;  specifically, in sections 11.3.9 and 11.3.9.1, as well as Annex A.

The Safer Buildings Coalition is very happy to announce the latest addition to the team – our new Association Manager, Katina Madianos-Fiore.

In her role as Association Manager, Katina is responsible for onboarding new members and overseeing membership to ensure continual satisfaction and growth. Working collaboratively with SBC leaders, Katina will provide operational and strategic input to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the output of the organization. Her goal is to build a strong, involved and cooperative member base that works together successfully to further the SBC mission.

We had a chance to catch up with Dense Networks’ Executive Director Pete Murray during the recent In-Building Wireless Congress to discuss Dense Networks, “smart” cities, and how Dense and Safer Buildings Coalition can work together to improve public safety and the public’s safety.

On July 16th, Safer Buildings Coalition, Microlab and Predictive Technologies hosted the latest installment in our Webinar series: Monitoring Requirements for In-Buildings ERRCS.

This seminar focused on the monitoring of Emergency Responder Radio Communications System (ERRCS) and the benefits of assuring that all components of the system (both Active and Passive) are continuously monitored for correct operation. The webinar featured presentations by Thomas McCabe of Microlab and Eric Carey of Predictive.

The 2019 In-Building Wireless Congress (IBW) descended on Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas June 10-12, and the Safer Buildings Coalition participated in this great event as both an exhibitor and a content partner. We were proud to present a very strong two-day program, which brought together some of the brightest minds of the industry and fostered engaging presentations, spirited panel discussions and audience Q&A.
