Dan Leaf Resume

Candidate Statement:

My name is Dan Leaf, CEO and co-founder of GUGLI Corporation, and I am asking for your vote to serve as Vice President of the Safer Buildings Coalition Board of Directors.

Over the past 20 years I have built two companies from the ground up and scaled them quickly into two of the nation’s best DAS and ERRCS firms, both with successful exits. I founded Leaf Communication Services, acquired by Tempest Telecom Solutions, and later Leaf Communications, acquired by Centerline Communications. That work has been recognized with the SBA’s Entrepreneur of the Year (Under 40) award and as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year, among many other honors.

My career began in the United States Air Force, where I learned discipline and a mission-first mindset that I have tried to carry into this industry every day. I have been fortunate to grow up alongside the ERRCS story. In 2003 I deployed the first public safety communications system in Bellevue, Washington, and I have spent the two decades since learning from this technology as it evolved, and from the many talented people who shaped it. That experience has given me some ideas on how these systems can be made better, and today I am working to make them more reliable, cheaper to maintain, and always on when we need it.

If elected Vice President, I will work to strengthen the Coalition, grow its membership, and expand its impact. Just as importantly, I will be a strong voice beyond our own ranks, carrying our message to the code officials, building owners, and policymakers who need to hear it, and to the insurance companies who can recognize these systems as removing risk and pass those savings down to building owners. The mission is simple and urgent: response times save lives, and communication during responses saves lives. Both are the mission.

I respectfully ask for your vote.

Bio:

Dan Leaf is the CEO and co-founder of GUGLI Corporation and a 20-year veteran of the in-building wireless and public safety communications industry. A United States Air Force veteran, Dan built and scaled two companies into nationally recognized DAS and ERRCS leaders, founding Leaf Communication Services, acquired by Tempest Telecom Solutions, and Leaf Communications, acquired by Centerline Communications. His work has earned numerous honors, including the SBA’s Entrepreneur of the Year (Under 40) award and recognition as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year.

Dan has been part of the ERRCS story from its earliest days, deploying the first public safety communications system in Bellevue, Washington in 2003 and working alongside the technology, and the people who shaped it, ever since. Today at GUGLI he is focused on the next chapter: making public safety systems more reliable, cheaper to maintain, and always on. Behind all of it is a simple conviction forged in his military service and proven over two decades in the field: response times save lives, communication during responses saves lives, and buildings should never be the reason either one fails.
