Candidate Statement:

To all SBC Voting Members,

I am writing to express my enthusiastic support for my nomination to the SBC Board of Directors for the Treasurer position.

With over 33 years of experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry, I’ve had the privilege of serving in technical, marketing, and sales leadership roles at leading companies including Leviton, Legrand, and Superior Essex. Currently, I serve as Vice President of Sales for the Americas at Nextivity, where I am passionate about contributing to the wireless and public safety sectors in support of a more connected and secure world.

For the past 17 years, I have actively participated in industry associations, holding key leadership and board positions, including Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) — Board President, Treasurer, and Northeast Regional Director (2009–2018); the Association of Smart Homes and Buildings (ASHB) — current Board President (2021–current); and the Communications Cabling and Connectivity Association (CCCA) — current Board President (2022–current).

I find great value in the collaborative nature of sales, marketing, financial and community involvement. I am passionate about driving positive change, fostering innovation, and promoting the development of smarter and safer spaces. If elected to the SBC Board, I will leverage my association leadership experience to advance the SBC’s mission and enhance the value we deliver to our members.

Drawing upon my experience as Treasurer of BICSI, along with my responsibility for managing sales and marketing budgets, I will help ensure sound financial stewardship and alignment with SBC’s strategic goals. Maintaining fiscal responsibility is essential to expanding the organization’s reach and fulfilling its mission.

As Treasurer, I will serve as a visible advocate for SBC within the industry, supporting initiatives that advance our objectives while bringing innovative ideas and practical solutions to the Board. I look forward to contributing more deeply to the SBC community and would be honored to have your support for my nomination to the Board of Directors as the Treasurer.

Bio:

Brian Ensign is an executive leader with more than 33 years of experience in the telecommunications and electrical industries, spanning sales, marketing, product management, strategy, operations, and sustainability. He currently serves as Vice President of Sales for the Americas at Nextivity, leading the regional sales team, distribution, and system-integrator relationships.

Over his career he has held senior leadership roles at Superior Essex (Vice President of Marketing; Vice President of Demand Creation & International; and Director of Global Accounts), Legrand (Director of Training and Technology), and Leviton (Director of National Accounts), beginning as a staff engineer in cable-products testing at Intertek/ETL. He is an active industry leader, having served BICSI as Northeast Region Director, Treasurer, President-Elect, and President (2008–2018), and currently as Board Chair of both the Association for Smarter Homes and Buildings (ASHB) and the Communications Cable & Connectivity Association (CCCA), as well as a voting member of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code Panel 16.

He holds top industry designations from BICSI (RCDD, NTS, OSP, RTPM, and CSI), a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and an A.A.S. in Electrical Technology from Tompkins Cortland Community College.
