CCFS Announces a Special 3-Hour Safer Buildings Coalition Program at the 2019 Campus Fire Forum

Posted on March 24, 2020

With many years of service in public safety, I have witnessed and been a part of many forms of crisis. Whether natural or man-made, a disaster can have a profound impact on the daily lives of those effected. Today’s environment of uncertainty with COVID 19 is very significant, and it brings back some vivid memories of the initial days following the events of 9/11.

Those memories include many hours spent planning and preparing for what was often referred to as the “unknown” and the “new normal.” We had no idea what that really meant, but we knew the world as we had known it would change. The uncertainty of what was to come would impact not only the lives of first responders, but the lives of all Americans. We didn’t have time to do much reflection. It was time to move forward, develop plans, procedures, secure proper equipment, train personnel, etc.

Public Safety Codes and Signal Booster Solutions

Signal Boosters Logo

Posted on March 24, 2020

Before obtaining certificates, licenses, and permits for occupying commercial buildings and property, several building codes must meet federal requirements and/or municipal zoning laws.

In general, these guidelines range from structural, electrical, mechanical, fuel/gas, plumbing, drainage, landscaping, accessibility, health, and fire safety. Failing to comply with these requirements may lead to rejected building permits, a re-approval process, and even penalties if the building is occupied for use while failing to address the prerequisites.

That's An E-Wrap!

RF Logo

Posted on March 24, 2020

Some of the most challenging projects in the public safety arena involve older, occupied buildings, and the planning and implementation of bringing them up to code. These retrofit installations are even more challenging when it comes to healthcare facilities.

RFS recently implemented an ARCS project at a top-tier medical research facility located in the medical corridor of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This facility was undergoing an extensive renovation, which triggered the requirement for an FDNY ARC system. The RFS engineering team was able to overcome some of the cable installation challenges on the upper floors with a unique design that allowed for overlapping antenna coverage. This plan negated the need for two-hour fire rating prot

ection of the horizontal cable runs.
