Dear Safer Buildings Coalition Members,

After serving on the Board of the Safer Buildings Coalition for the last two years, I am honored to have been selected to serve as the President this year and for the opportunity to work with a highly experienced and passionate Board of Directors and SBC staff.

This is an interesting time in the life of SBC as an organization. We have some challenges ahead to ensure that the organization has the financial resources to be able to thrive as an organization. These financial resources will be needed to capitalize on some tremendous opportunities ahead to foster the growth of the organization and realize our mission of eliminating wireless “Dead Zones.” I had the opportunity to meet with the SBC leadership team and my successor (David Adams) in Atlanta to brainstorm ideas to foster the growth of the organization. The SBC leadership team has some brilliant ideas that could help with some of the immediate issues. The team is currently working on finalizing these ideas into a strategy for the next year.

I am also very excited to be part of the organization at this time, as we have the chance to make a difference that will change the trajectory of this organization and establish SBC as the leader for in-building communications. You might ask me why? Firstly, we have tremendous momentum with the rapid growth in membership and the impact we are making as an organization. Large organizations like AT&T have joined the organization. We are also in ongoing discussions with other large organizations that are interested in joining SBC. Secondly, the SBC nationwide roadshows have brought tremendous visibility to the organization. Government organizations like FCC, FirstNet, and DHS are looking at ways to collaborate with SBC to further our joint mission. Thirdly, the completion of the NICET DAS study Guide in the first quarter of 2023 will allow SBC to make even more impact through education. This guide will not only help with DAS certification but also improve competence in the area of In-Building Public Safety Communications Design, Installation, Maintenance, and Inspection.

Thank you for your steadfast support of the SBC mission. I am looking forward to working with SBC leadership to shape the future of SBC so we can make more impact as an organization and deliver more value to our members.
